The angel of death caresses a Destroying Angel Mushroom. The blackness surrounding her symbolises the void, a place where we can create new life. Destroying angels are one of the most toxic species of mushrooms on earth. They can be deadly, but when consumed, symptoms may not appear for hours or days. This can lure the gatherer into a false sense of security, thinking that the mushrooms are safe to eat. Destroying Angels grow in conifer forests or mixed oaks and hardwoods, the same place as edible mushrooms making it harder to tell them apart.
Divinatory Meaning
Life is made up of many cycles: births and deaths, ups and downs, grief and happiness. Together, all these moments make up a full life. A significant ending is drawing near. Whether in a relationship, friendship, contract or job, the Destroying Angel heralds the completion of a cycle. This ending might feel sad, but it is a release. Often, after something is completed, we can feel relief, like a burden has been lifted, thus creating the space needed to start fresh. This mushroom's energy will give you the strength to close a chapter and walk through a new door.
The Destroying Angel knows how tough this time has been for you and offers you support. She gently reminds you of the importance of taking care of yourself first.
